As the newest major social network, it's easy for companies to wonder - do we really need another social media account?
1. Engagement for brands on Instagram is double Facebook.
Yes, you read that right. Posts by brands on Instagram receive 1.06% engagement on average (according to Locowise), while Facebook posts only receive 0.53% engagement. And that's the lowest estimate we could find.
This study from 2014 found that Instagram posts by top brands receive 58 times more engagement than Facebook, and 120 times more than Twitter. Now that's insane!

2. Instagram has 500m monthly active users and 300m daily active users, and it's not slowing down.
That's more than Twitter.
Instagram is not just a place where people share pictures of their cat and the donut they're about to eat. A huge portion of your customers and target market are on Instagram, so what are you waiting for?!
3. Instagram is less monetised and less crowded, so the opportunities are bigger.
The golden years on Facebook were 2010-2013. This was the time when companies and individuals could grow pages with tens of thousands of followers with ease and a few tricks of the trade. These pages that accumulated incredible amounts of users put their owners light years infront of the competition. Trying to grow a Facebook page to 10,000 followers now is as easy as growing a page to 100,000 was in 2011.
Instagram is in a similar golden age, and should be for some time. Facebook, its' parent company, is only in the early stages of monetising the platform. This means there should be several more years (based on Facebooks trajectory) until the platform is more pay-to-play orientated (like Facebook is now). Grow a following now, and you'll enjoy the benefits for years to come, while your competition who was a step behind won’t be able to grow to your size.
4. Instagram adoption among top brands is over 85 per cent
That says it all, doesn’t it? With 85 percent of top brands throwing their weight into Instagram, you know the social network has cemented its spot as a pillar of social networking.
They say you are what you eat. If you want to be a top brand, logic says you should probably be on Instagram.
5. Recall from Instagram content is higher than traditional advertising
In over 475 global campaigns, Nielsen found that ad recall on Instagram exceeded the norms for online advertising by almost three times. Rather impressive.
